Sverre Strandberg’s book of double-exposed images, taken at busy holiday destinations such as Disneyland, explores the act of photography as a momentary encounter between image and reality. Reflections and mirroring abound and combined with overlaid frames make it feel as though Strandberg has managed to capture an environment that is perpetually in motion and surprisingly uncertain. The familiar is made alien: Strandberg returns a degree of abstraction to these scenes and figures, otherwise designed (or doomed) to present themselves to the continual blink of camera lenses.
